Halo 3: Orbital Dump, Super Trash

So yes, I did blow $60.00 on this damned game. While I thought Halo 3 was okay and definitely playable, I do not find ODST any better. Was missing all the fun of Halo 3 because of missing weapons, horrible repeats of bad habits and most importantly the worst plot of a Halo game since…ever. Why does it even need to ask this question?

So I’m playing the Brütal Legend demo and then this option comes up durring the opening cutscene:

“From time to time, Brütal Legend may need to utilize strong language in order to accurately potray the authentic roadie experience to the player.” with the choices, “I want to hear every nasty syllable.” and “It’s funnier if you bleep it out.”

Seriously. An M rated game and they have to ask this question? I think the dialog box and cutscene interruption is funnier than all the swearing you can put in this game.

Update: Worse, here’s the second interruption and choice:

“Brütal Legend contains some blood and gore, including dismemberment and occasional beheadings, whenever it is necessary for the plot, historical accuracy or to look awesome.” with the choices, “Okay, but only when it really would look very awesome.” and “No gore, please!”.

I could not hit that yes button fast enough.

Demo? Good? You bet. I think I’m sold. While it’s very much a hack ‘n slash adventure game it’s got tons of goodies sofar and I’ve just done the demo. I think we’re good.

Otakon Update Post One

Shamelessly stolen from LBR, but since it’s something I made, it’s rather important. A real Otakon 2009 update is in the works, but will be a week or so out. If I gave you a card while I was out, you are probably in this video or in the picture dump below.
So yes, I haven’t been sitting on my a** doing code updates the past 7 months or so. I’ve been thinking. And planning. And stuff. And I came up with this:

Deadliest Sin 6/13/2009, the birthday present to myself

So I am 22 now. Do I really care? Not particularly, but it does call attention to myself, which I seem to be in dire need of lately. Kinda depressed lately of having no girl and pretty much being rejected or my new favorite word “Cockblocked”. This girl I met on Myspace I am interested in, but have never had the chance to see her in person. I have this sneaking suspicion she isn’t totally interested in me, which is odd since she was the one who came to me first. Also, this other girl who I know from high school who I feel for, but she doesn’t seem to be into me. She had been gone for a while so I let it go, but now that she’s back I feel that awkward heart sensation again. I also guess I am totally off her radar. Finally I have this girl I know over the internet from the UK. I like her because she’s snarky, pretty and very honest, among other fun features. But another thing that’s a big deal to me is that for my birthday she let me have an audio clip of her singing. I thought that was cute. Though I’m confused as to what women want from a guy or more bluntly, me. I am no good at relationships with women, but with how cryptic they are and what people say about them I can’t seem to get a girl, let alone anyone, to tell me what needs fixing. I’m a software developer at heart and frankly people can tell me “I hate it” but that doesn’t help me when I’m attempting to fix the problem. I can understand something like “The user interface could use a larger splash of color” or “The menu control feels sticky” but just “I hate it” never advances what needs doing. *Sigh* Another year, still girlfriendless.

I need you!

So I’m actualy working on a few of my XNA projects that I didn’t make in school so I can include them into my portfolio. Here’s the thing though. I need alpha testers, artists and maybe some sound guys. I’m not explaining what this game is and if you agree to work with me you cannot talk about it. Sound fair? Sure. Here’s what’s needed.

If you want to be considered for testing, you must fufill the following four requirements.
XP, Vista or NT7
.NET Framework 3.5 (Get it here)
XNA Framework 3.0 (Get it here)
A wired Xbox 360 controler or Xbox 360 Controler Wireless Adapter with controler.
…or you can trump all of that with Xbox 360 with Xbox Live Gold+XNA connect ($120/yr).

For art, I need sprites for the four Xbox 360 crontroler buttons (XYAB). I’ll leave the creative part to you.

And finaly for sound I need three sounds, one for a button press that suceeeds, one for a buzz indicating something went wrong and finaly a ding that symbolizes completion.

Compenstation includes your name (or nickname) in the credits. If this goes as viral as I’m hoping it does, there may be monetary compensation as well (In other words, if it kicks ass, it is worth money).

Keep in mind this is all alpha work and incredibly buggy at this stage. So don’t expect huge results at the moment.

Xbox 360 Update

Got word from Microsoft just now that my machine has been fixed and is being shipped out today. Considering the time it took to get there, I’m expecting it to get back to me Monday. Soon I shall be killing again…

On that note, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 comes out this week. Better go pick that up while I’m at it.
