So here’s a quick blurb as to the “turned it down” story. I posted it on a couple forums, but now I’m going to put in my blog. On Sunday, May 20th, I get a call from an old friend of mine and co-worker (who’s name won’t be mentioned here). I’m about to start Dynamis and I’m curious what she wanted. She used the two choice words “I’m horny”. Now, some of you may know this by now, some may not. I’m a hopeless romantic. I don’t want to just get laid. I want to make love to my woman when the time, place and relationship are right for us. Sure, she just offered to break me in, I was almost 20 years old, why didn’t I take it? I do not know, but I do know I will find someone I’m comfortable with someday.
So the other day Sherman, a friend of mine, gives me a heads up and asks me if I would be willing to help him out with something today. I say what for and he says he needs a ride to Buffalo for four hours for something military related. (Won’t get into details, don’t know how much I can say.) One of the things that I thought of, he’s going to be paying for it, so what do I have to loose from going home to see some family and friends. So I drop him off and head out to Wheatfield. I stop at the cemetery where my grandfather (Papa from hereout) was buried, but after driving around for twenty minutes and never finding his stone, I gave up and ended up slightly frustrated. I ended up heading to my step-grandmother’s (Nana from hereout) and shot the breeze with her an hour or so. She knows my secret about June 9th, but that’s because she can’t go. It’s giving me the willies thinking about how my family will react. I also went to see an old friend since I was two months old. Bobby Simmington to the rest of you. We hung out, caught up on where life is going and talked about some games. He’s really getting into Airsoft (best described as paintball with realistically styled weapons and pellets instead of paintballs) and it’s perked my interest in perhaps trying when I finish college. Alas, Sherman called and it was time to go. I went to pick him up, went to grab dinner and I got a hold of my brother so we could head over there. I talked plenty with him, felt really proud of him and where he’s going (though, his relationship with Ashley is in jeopardy). I also told him the story of “turning it down” and he gave me advice for my first time. He said I was in my right mind on that. I sure hope I find a nice girl in my lifetime, the sooner the better. Not someone who will “do something strange for a little bit of change.” (thanks LBR Skype Guys…) I’m off track. After talking to him for a couple hours I headed home. Sherman shared me some stories of what it’s like to be out there (don’t want to get into details) and all I could really say then was what I’m going to say now to him and every solider.
Thank you, you make me proud.
