Fun Party

Merit Update: +1 STR

So I just returned from the sickest party I’ve been in in quite a long time. I mean, to the point of the skillchain killed the mob. From 100% to 0% in four sucessive hits (Vorpal Blade – Asuran Fists (Liquification) – Blade: Jin (Fusion) – SATA Shark Bite (Light)).

Plus the Red Mage (Taru) and myself had a share of sick skillchains of our own. They varried wildly from 150 damage to the most insane thing I’ve seen ever:

Sick Light

I know. You probably don’t belive me again. What am I gonna do? Nothing. You can’t deny truth because you are not above it.

Standing up for myself

Yeah. Since I started playing XI I’ve only taken so much advice, so much trouble and so much of anything. I belive this to be a video game, not something to be taken seriously.

Over the past half year or so I have taken a different view to my job. I have done things weird but at the same time have accomplished my own means with them. I’m stubborn and I don’t give up on things.

I’ve gone as far with my choices to have the phrase “Pulling a Zero” named after me. (Defined: Using a weird or uncommon support job and making it work.) I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and I’ve decided instaid of hiding it, I should be damned proud of it.

So here’s my new Avatar and Signature after a long and probably needless intro.

A couple of extras are caps I took of my After Effects workspace.
and Second

And the sig in fully rendered XviD.

Have fun!

I feel like a Dark Knight now…

Seriously. After I got my 4th merit point yesterday I decided why not try getting Devotion.

But it feels like I’m hurting myself to cure someone else. I mean, doesn’t that feel more like a DRK than a WHM? It’s a nice ability and I will take it to a full three merits while my others will be put into Martyr just for the hell of it.

I’m off to go fish and put my flag up. See you all later.

Fishing Trip

So after capping EXP earlier today and getting my first Merit (It’s in MP) I decide I should kill time by cooking. Ok. I take my test and get to level 30 making fish broth. Now I realize I’m out of fish to skill with. I’ve bought out the Jeuno and Windurst AHs. So it’s fishing trip time!

I grab my usual rod, tackle and fishing armor. I also went back to WHM/NIN again. I grab the warptaru to San d’Oria and head to Valkurm Dunes through OP. I shouted “75 WHM in {Valkurm Dunes} {Run away!}” and got some laughs.

I get there and it’s Lightningsday. Great. I can’t buy bait. I get on the boat, throw my line in the water and break the line on the first try, but get the .2 I needed for level 8 Fishing. So I went back to San d’Oria, waltzed over to the moat, easily caught a moat carp, OPed to Sarubaruta, turned in the test, went back out to San d’Oria, back to Valkurm Dunes and caught the next boat. I proceeded to fish for a while, but then I noticed this thing behind me missing me badly (shadows). I flip around and…

It’s Sea Horror.

Quickly I jump back into battle mode. Weapons, White Mage armor and a Taco. I start the fight and it’s going rather well. Got him to about 70% or so then Hundred Fists kicks in. I flash it and it’s turning into Hundred Misses. I manage to survive a good ten seconds but then my character puts her hammer away and the chat box says: We’re now docking in Mharua. I say to myself, oh well. Not like the NM had anything worthwhile on him.

So after a few more trips I finaly got a party invite, but it’s only gonna last an hour. That’s the second time today where I get a party and it only lasts an hour.

But I did try something cool. I had the BRD durring the first party give me Spirited and Logical Etude. The results were interesting to say the least. Banish’s damage (off burst) went to 600some and my cure went from 760 to 840 or so. I have caps of this, but I’ve got class soon this morning so I’ll post them later when I return home.

Time for the OS final!

I want a congradulations, a hand, a welcome and a few beers.

Wanna know why?

Yeah. With the way things have been going lately in this blog, I’ll take the answer as a no.

But I’m only gonna post a screencap with some comments.

See it here.

I think that says it all.

Quick note:

As I went back to partying, I got an invite, so I get my food, sanction and head out to Halvung. I get to one of the gates that are littered around the map and wait for the guys who wanted me to open the door. They never do, though, a Black Mage ran by and hit the door for me. So I get to where they all are on the camp. Now mind you, I have chat filters so all I really see is anything I do, actions by my alliance and damage taken by party memebers. So I get there and I see the White Mage at the time cast a really long spell. A couple moments after she begins, I realize something.

It’s a teleportation spell. They’re leaving.

I figure, eh, they’ll be back. So I send Jumbo (the leader) a tell. Next thing I know, he’s logged out.

Along with the rest of the party.

I swear. Some people are just freaking rude.

A new role for a White Mage

Yeah, I’m in the middle of a great party, but I’m finding my role is very bassackwards.

I’m pulling.

Aparently this new trend going on is nobody carries a range weapon. I mean, I have my Sachet and Ampula, but I can’t throw them. Everyone else seems to carry something just as un-throwable, but they don’t carry anything actualy returnable or anything to shoot with. So with my limited role as a White Mage (most of the time I hardly can cure) I’m changed to pulling mobs instaid.

Parties are great though. In this Aht Urghan area (I don’t quite remember the name of it) I finaly can get back to meleeing in parties becuase I don’t have to worry about AoEs ripping me apart, silencing me or anything annoying like that. I can get my club of trials now, which is something on tap for tommorow. Also on the list is skilling staff to 230 so I can get my Pole of Trials. Retribution is somehting I could use as my PLD.

It’s weird. Is this what I’m supposed to be doing past level 70? Over the past two days I’ve gotten from 70 to 73 and about a half. I know Curaga IV and am on the way to start meriting soon.

For now, bed calls again.

A old man lies dead at my feet…

Ok. Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes.

Maat turned out to be easier than I thought. I had to two hour because of sloppy cure jobs, but I overall kicked him from here into next week. So here’s how it went:

I got there, meditated (I’m not a SAM, I actualy did this in real life) then another WHM going to do the same thing (but poorly equiped for it) came by. We discussed what was going on and she went first. She got terribly owned. I tried to help her though what might of been wrong, but if I helped or didn’t, it was my turn. So I meditated again, ate my taco, rested for my MP and threw my test at the circle. I went into the battlefield, went into the circle’s rim and threw my Protect, Shell, Reraise, A yagudo drink, Aquaviel, Blink, Stoneskin and started chugging hi-ethers to almost full. Then I threw on my Opo-Opo Necklace, chugged some sleeping pots and got 100TP. I took a breath and in I went. It started out smoothly, I beat him down to the point of having my club actualy hurt him and blasted him with Hexa Strike. He counters with Benediction almost instantly.

At this point I knew I had the fight in the bag. We continued to exchange for a while but I tried throwing around some sloppy cures. I was in the red so I just ran for Benediction myself. Maat was at a bit over half at this point. I got up TP and let it loose. He was getting low now, so I unloaded a final Hexa and he died.

Deathblow.
Fight’s End.

I went nuts at this point, but tried to keep my cool. I mean, look at the time! If I waited any longer to win, I’d of lost. Then I thought about something. Hey, I forgot to use my I-wing.

At this point I laughed uncontrolably. I sold the I-wing back to the AH. I made sure to go back and talk to him so I could get my level cap adjusted.

The change.

So what were the yess at the begining of the entry for?

Yes, I did beat Maat.
Yes, I did win by Meleeing.
Yes, it’s entirely possible to do before Black Halo.
Yes, I am better than you.

And that’s all in a good day. For now, I think I need a break.

People are…

I don’t know. But often times I think they have the intelegence of your average rock. Well, let’s get with what I’ve been doing before tonight’s spectical of stupidity.

The first thing I’ve been doing is crafting. I decided to push woodworking to 60 instaid of trying to level others. Sofar it’s going well, I make about 150K per stack of Arrowheads and Fletchings because I make my own lumber for 3k/stack as opposed to paying 15K/stack. The blitz has brought me to 57 and I’ve only got two more levels untill the arrows are capped, then I have to figure out how to nail 60 without going over. I did a little alchemy (20 to 21) and goldsmithing (1 to 4) to boot and now I’m just waiting for stuff off the Auction House to sell, I’m 190/190 right now…

Anyway, I got a pick-up party to do CoP 2-5. I figure, eh, let’s try it. So I jump to my RDM and oh my goodness. They want me to uselessly sub NIN, but this isn’t my only gripe. Getting there was annoying for no one (other than me) listened to the party leader. The biggest gripe I had was the paper the PLD was wearing (to the effect of: Linnen Doublet, no headgear, no rings, no earrings, iron scale gauntlets and feet, silver hose and no headgear but he did have appropriate weapons. But when we finaly got to the ENM, I realized that we were in deep trouble. The fight begins with me kiting the one on the right. The SMN who defied all commands sicked Carby on the one I was kiting, not the one on the left like she was supposed to. As such, I was being chased by two mobs instaid of one. I go back to the entrance, bind it, return and the entire party is in my way. They’re in the path, not in the center of the ring like they should be. I get -ga casted on me and I was unfortunately in the middle of the group, so it raped eveyone. I then explained to everyone what went wrong and the all thought I was retarded.

n00bs.

I HPed (note to self: pad RDM more later), ranted a bit to the LS, made 100K in porting for an hour then called it a day. Then I wrote this entry.

By the way, if anyone in Fairy has a Purgatory Mace, I want to buy it.

To kill an old man…

Ok kids, after a long time of porting, being a mercenary (not associated with the LS) and just plain porting people for money, I’ve finaly made up enough money for it.

Buying it in the Auction House

Rock the house. Now I can go level and kick some ass at it. So I do. For the first time in, let’s just say forever, I’m willing to go EXP on my White Mage. I get a party really fast as usual then head out to Caevera Mire. Now, this is the first time I’ve been out here. First couple of fights were rough because of all the macro resets I had to do, but when I was all squared away, I think it took only two or three hours for this:

Level 68

I propmtly put it on…

Wearing the Tunic.

And finish up by using my scrolls of Shell IV and Shellra IV. I then decided to work with something. Hey, we’re fighting these huge blob things, they’re undead according to how one PLD intimidated them. So thanks to Zeratu and Ganiman kinda explainging to me what Banish is supposed to do, I figure, let’s try it.

I wasn’t expecting this though:

Banish Strikes

I have two words for that. Holy shit. Sometime later I get into a party that just totaly sucks bad. Why?

A PL at 69?

And who the heck is that guy? Ladies and gentlemen, XI has hit a new low. I’m level 69 and I have a level 75 White Mage PLing us.

I promptly leave the party and let my feeling about PLing be known. There is no excuse for this BS. You’re level 67-69. If you need a PL at this level to do your job or you’re unwilling to put your lives in my hands, go into POL and delete your POL account. There is no excuse for this bull. Goodbye to you.

But after getting a decent party I use one of my macros and found something funny:

Nice HP Glitch

I don’t get it. But I got to reach my next goal:

Level 70

Now that I’m at this level, I think I’m going to pad it as much as I can then move onto my next milestone. Beating the crap out of an old man.

Maat! I’m comming for you!

Edit:
Me: There’s nothing worse then men in subligars…
Taru: If I was taller I’d smack you.
